Coin roll wrapper frame

February 1, 2010 by Erin Heaton

My mom keeps bringing over piles of rejected craft supplies in hopes I can make something with them. This plain little frame was the first thing that jumped out at me.

I sifted through my stash and found these coin roll wrappers. Sometime last year, Dan took coins to the bank to be counted, and they sent him home with a mess of penny rolls. I have better things to do than roll pennies, but I held onto them for their graphic appeal.

This is another simple decopage project, but I did take care to match up the pattern on the paper.

1. Cut the rolls along the seams and press flat.

2. Lay them on the frame and match up the pattern. This might take a bit of rearranging.

3. Cut to fit the face of the frame. I trimmed along the the lines of the pattern to make the cuts less noticeable.

4. Remove the clear photo protector piece so you don’t get glue on it.

5. Spread Mod Podge on the back of each piece and adhere to the frame.

6. Let dry, then seal the front of the frame with one coat of Mod Podge.

7. Let dry, then insert a photo and replace the clear plastic photo protector. Done!

I’ve been going through your site all morning. This is good stuff! Great useful projects without being clogged up with giveaways.
I think my first project I’m going to try is the shadowbox bank and modge podge penny rolls on the inside.I do love the trees though! Thanks for the inspiration! You are my new favorite!

That’s so nice of you to say! I secretly hate giveaway clutter too.

That’s a good idea to put the penny rolls on the inside of the shadowbox. Why didn’t I think of that?
