Fence-be-gone

June 3, 2010 by Erin Heaton

The above is actually the “after” photo, if you can believe it! I know it looks pitiful, but it did look worse.
Before

This small section of fence at the end of our driveway was falling down.

Before

The gate was always getting stuck when you needed to open it and swinging open when it should be closed. The whole thing was peeling paint and way past the point of repair.

Before

After an offer from my dad to disassemble it and an offer from the neighbor to help repair it (embarrassing!), I decided it was time it came down. It didn’t serve much of a purpose anyway.

“Before”

I can’t believe I didn’t take a “before” shot from farther away, but this is sort of what it looked like. Yep, this is the ugly side of the house.

The fence coming down opened everything up. Now you can see the whole space from the driveway. When we get around to fixing up the back yard, I imagine things will look quite nice! There’s a lot to be done, so I’m telling myself this year will be about deconstruction and next year will be about reconstruction. For some reason, that makes me feel better!
