I like looking at pretty pictures of fabric.
I’ve gotten some inquiries lately about where I get my fabric, but I must admit, the sources aren’t anything fancy or mysterious. Jo-Ann Fabrics, the remnant pile at Hancock Fabrics, fabric.com, etsy. It should come as no surprise that most of what I buy is off the clearance rack, on sale or otherwise discounted. I rarely pay full price.
I’m not a fabric snob, but I am kind of picky about my prints. I like what I like and I don’t care if it has a designer name on the selvage. I really do think you can find good stuff almost everywhere. You just might have to be a little choosier at the chain stores.
These are the fabrics I’ve been collecting for a quilt for Elise, though I’m not sure all of them will make it into the final product. The jury’s still out on what sort of design I’ll do.
I also got a stash of vintagey fabrics from my grandma a week or two ago. They are mostly pretty dark (she mainly sewed clothes and curtains), but I do love that taupe polka dot fabric at the bottom of the stack. There are two yards of it!
