Repainted outdoor bench

May 21, 2010 by Erin Heaton

This bench on our front porch was NEW just a year ago. NEW.

Before
One winter outside and it was completely rusted.
Before
So much for a durable factory finish.

I found this spray paint that not only stops rust, but can be applied directly over rust without any primer. Perfect! I’m all for easy.
It took two cans of paint to cover the entire bench. It was supposed to have a “hammered” finish, but it only looks like that in small areas. I’m not sure if I didn’t apply it thick enough or what. But it definitely hid all the rust and imperfections!
I wasn’t sure how the brown would look, but now I love it. It definitely coordinates better with the house than the black did.
