    Hi Erin,
I am not sure if you are looking for feedback but I know how helpful it was for me when I was taking my photography class. I am no expert but here goes. I voted for the Jan 31st photo. I think it is well composed and the reflection of the sun on some areas adds a level of depth and interest. I really like the Feb.3rd picture too. I like how it is taken so you can see what Elise is seeing and she is a bit off centered. The one thing I would of done differently is that I would of changed the angle a bit so the castle wasn’t directly over Elise’s head as it is the focal point in the background. The baby on the dash made me laugh 🙂
So glad you are doing this!

Hi Diane! Thanks for the feedback; it’s more than welcome!

I think most photos of Elise are not my best technically. She’s a moving target and it’s hard to get things set up right while still watching her outside of the lens. I’m so glad I got a camera with a continuous shooting mode. I don’t think I would get many good shots of her without it. I agree that the composition of that photo would be better if I had stepped to the right.

The weird thing with this project is that some days I have multiple great photos and other days I barely squeak something out. But I know forcing myself to photo something everyday is improving my skills and I’ve taken photos of a LOT of things I would have never pulled out the camera for. I have a lot to learn about the technical aspects of photography. My strategy now is to take about a thousand photos and delete 995 of them.

    Hi Erin,
I am thankful for continuous shooting mode too, love that on my camera! What kind of camera did you end up with? Kid pictures really can be difficult, actually I struggle with people pictures on a whole but I am working on it. My startegy like yours is to take tons pictures and only keep the best. Acutally, I think this was lesson number one in my photography class!

I got a Nikon D3100 and I love it. It’s way more camera than I need, but hopefully I will learn more about all the technical settings along the way. It takes HD video too. We’re really bad about dragging out the video camera, so that’s one of the reasons we got that one.

Hi, I'm Erin Heaton,
