Upstairs bathroom update

April 2, 2015 by Erin Heaton

bathroom-reno

I thought it was about time for another bathroom update. There’s been a ton of progress, since the last time I showed you! Though this is definitely “slow reno,” one weekend at a time. It’s really hard to take photos of this space, and I don’t have a wide angle lens. Hopefully these aren’t too confusing.

We have real walls now and the tiling is maybe 75 percent done? We haven’t started on the floor yet. I’m hoping that after all of the tiling is complete, the rest of it will come together pretty quickly.

Faux wood tile

I chose this gray-toned faux wood ceramic tile for the floor. It was hard to find something that coordinated with the granite on the vanity, wasn’t a tiny mosaic (nixed by the would-be installer, my dad), but also wasn’t a giant 18″x24″ or something like that. Why is all the floor tile for sale enormous now? Our old house floors aren’t exactly perfectly level, and we didn’t want to invite issues. I know the wood tile is trendy; I always struggle choosing between trendy vs. timeless. But it is like wood (and not neon or whatever),  so hopefully it will age more gracefully than most trends.
