Back-painted glass cow diagram

January 11, 2011 by Erin Heaton

There are some ideas I get for projects that are only appropriate for one recipient: my brother, Adam. He appreciates things few others in my circle might. It might be that he has specific interests that I know very well, so I never feel like I’m taking a risk when I make something a little weird for him.
I had earmarked this vintage meat chart to make something for him and decided to do another back-painted glass painting.

This particular illustration lent itself well to my out-of-practice shaky painting hand. (I know my limits. I will never be a pinstriper.)
I used a variety of pinks and reds and a smidge of white for the horns. I was going to add a decorative border, but decided that it would have looked overdone and girly, so I left it off.

When I first saw the post heading + picture of the cow, I immediately thought “certainly that’s not for Elise’s room”!

Yeah, no butcher charts for Elise! Plus her room is completely packed. Anything more and I have to start taking things out.
