Wardrobe purge and reorganization

July 28, 2011 by Erin Heaton

The wardrobe in our dining room I use for craft and office supply storage had reached new levels of disorganization.

Before

These before photos were taken a few months ago, but the situation had only gotten worse since then, if that’s possible. This spot is too convenient when company’s coming and I need a place to stash clutter. All of the shelves had become completely crammed full, making everything inaccessible. Time for a reorg!

I started by emptying everything out except for the printer. I sorted through the enormous pile of junk, relocating decorative accessories elsewhere and a large portion of the office supplies to our basement office.
My two lucky finds were my misplaced self-healing cutting mat and a nearly full book of postage stamps. Like finding money, people. Legal tender!

I put everything back fairly methodically and left plenty of space for things to breathe. All of Elise’s art supplies are on the top shelf (out of her reach). And I avoided stacking anything heavy on top of the printer/scanner (one of my self-inflicted pet peeves).
So much more functional now! I’m going to be tough on myself to keep it this way.
