More U.S.A. map blankets + FREE printable tag

DIY USA Map Blanket

Remember this U.S.A. map blanket I made last year? Well, I made three more as gifts for my niece and two nephews. What kid doesn’t need one of these? It’s educational AND functional. It’s a reference tool you can sleep with.

Like the first map blanket, I made these in the style of the simple baby blanket at Prudent Baby. Only now, I can pretty much do it from memory without referring back to the tutorial. Awesome.

Blanket backings

The map panels and all of the backing fabrics were from Jo-Ann. Nothing fancy, but all of the patterns work well to balance the bold graphics of the map.

My niece loves purple, and I was so lucky to find this purple cloud fabric. Love it! I kind of want to use it on a thousand more things.

I printed up a tag explaining to sew a button on every state the kids visit.

Think you might make your own map blanket? Download the tag here free! (For personal use only.)

I also included little button pouches I made using paper cut from a shopping bag and sewing up the edges.

Really, these blankets were so much fun to make. And so satisfying! It only took about one to two hours to complete a whole blanket, start to finish.

This reminded me that I still haven’t made one for Henry yet–and he’s been to 10 states already!
