Trash or treasure? Vintage glass in a jar

May 30, 2013 by Erin Heaton

Backyard treasure glass in a vintage jar

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you might remember all of the random things I’ve found in my backyard while gardening. Rocks, pipes, a dog collar and, among other things, a whole lot of glass shards.

I hung onto most of them because I’m a hoarder I wanted to do something interesting with them.

So a few months ago, some type of crazy came over me, and I actually washed all the shards by hand. I’m still amazed I didn’t sever any digits. Then I layered them by color in a vintage jar I found in my parents basement. (Side note: I have seen this exact same jar at antique malls for like $20!)

Maybe it’s a bit weird to have a jar full of broken glass on display, but I just feel like it should be preserved in some way. The glass is a part of this house’s history, and I couldn’t just throw it out. Plus that shade of blue is so pretty!
