An updated look at my family room

June 14, 2011 by Erin Heaton

My mini-revamp of our family room is finally complete. There were no major changes beyond the new couch. Just a few finishing touches like new pillows and painting a border on the ceiling make the whole room look less sloppy and a little more put together.

Here’s a quick look at some before and after pairs.

I completed everything on my to-do list except for adding accessories. My daughter still can’t leave things where they are (breakable or not), so I’m still going for the minimal approach on accessories until she can.

Short term plans
  • Declutter
  • Replace couch
  • Change out a lamp shade
  • Make new throw pillows
  • Add more artwork
  • Add accessories
  • Add color!
  • Touch up the ceiling paint
  • Fix creeping area rug
  • Solve the magazine clutter problem

Longer term plans
  • Add wall shelves for DVDs
  • Add a coffee table

And a few more photos…
