Spray painted flowerpot

May 20, 2010 by Erin Heaton

I painted this cute little flowerpot as a gift for my sister-in-law. (Hi Laura!) It was so easy to do, I might just have to tackle my big stockpile of empty pots in the garage.
I started off with a plain clay pot and saucer.
I created a design with labels and painter’s tape, keeping in mind any parts that were exposed would be painted. I used some remnants from printable CD labels, but I’m sure any kind of stickers would work.
And I stuffed some paper inside the pot to protect it from paint.
Then I spray painted the whole thing and let it dry overnight.

I peeled off the stickers carefully and made sure to remove any little bits that might not have come off cleanly.
Then I gave the outside of the pot a coat of water-resistant clear sealer. (I’m guessing sealing the inside would inhibit the pot’s ability to soak up water.) Cute and easy!
